My Background
I’m Jason Pogue, founder of FlyingWell, a professional pilot and former mental health counselor. I earned my Master of Arts in Counseling in 2016 and spent three years in private practive, helping adults and couples navigate life’s challenges. My post-graduate clinical study in Emotionally-Focused Therapy and my continued interest in interpersonal neurobiology - covering neuroscience, relationships, sleep, nutrition, and genetics - shapes my approach to wellness and the educational resources we create here at FlyingWell.
Life in Aviation
As a Captain at a 121 carrier, I know the unique pressures pilots face: irregular schedules, high-stakes decisions, and time away from loved ones to name a few. Beyond the flight deck, I volunteer with our union’s peer support team, assisting fellow pilots through tough seasons, from managing sleep challenges to balancing crew dynamics and personal life. This dual perspective drives my mission to support pilots’ mental and emotional well-being.

FlyingWell is building a platform tailored for pilots, offering preventative mental health educational resources such as online courses, digestible worksheets, and peer support forums. As we grow, FlyingWell aims to be the go-to resource for aviation wellness, empowering pilots to prioritize their mental and emotional health proactively.
Outside the Flight Deck
When I’m not flying or supporting pilots, you might find me hiking with my wife Abby and our two kids, spending time on the porch catching up with friends, or volunteering in various leadership capacities in our local community. These moments remind me how vital balance is across all domains of life to feel fulfilled. I hope you will join us as we continue to grow, seek, and strive for balance and fulfillment together.
